Q. Is all of the material from the commonprayer.org website ("Web Offices") included with the Pocket PC Offices?

A. All of the Daily and Occasional Offices from the Web Offices are included, as well as the default Ordo calendar. The only omission is the Communion Liturgy archives (which isn't actually part of the Offices).


Q. Can the Pocket PC Offices be installed on a memory card (SD/Compact Flash/etc?)

A. Yes. Instructions are included with the installation information.


Q. Can the Pocket PC Offices be run on a PC??

A. No. The PC version for Windows or Mac is separate. When the Pocket PC Offices and the PC Offices are ordered together, the prices are discounted.


Q. Do the Windows and Macintosh versions come on the same CD?

A. Not normally. If you want both versions, you need to request both when ordering. There is no additional cost for two versions, but please note that the terms of the licensing agreement still apply: the program is sold "like a book", with the intent that each copy can be used by only one person at a time. If separate individuals are using different computers, a copy should be purchased for each.


Q. How will calendars and propers for future years be made available?

A. Registered users of the Pocket PC Offices will have access to a support website from which bug fixes and updates can be downloaded free of charge.


Q. Why is the Morning and Evening Prayer format different from the Web version of the Offices (i.e. why is the screen split in two sections)? And why do I have to select the day I want to view - why isn't it automatic?

A. The Web Offices use the "Cold Fusion" scripting language to select the propers for the day, and do other "automated" tasks to make access to files simple. All of this is done invisibly to the user by the servers that host the website. (You may have noted on your browser's address bar that the files on the web have a '.CFM' filetype rather than '.HTM') Without installing "Cold Fusion" or a similar scripting program on your computer, it isn't possible to achieve the same level of automation, so a split-screen is used to emulate the Web Offices operation.
